WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. The program offers nutrition assistance and support to pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children.
The WIC Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and provides specific nutritious foods along with nutrition and breastfeeding education to the participant at no cost.
To receive assistance there are certain requirements you must meet when you apply or reapply each year.
You must apply through a WIC agency in your area. You might have several options for where and how to apply. Kentucky residents must apply in Kentucky. You do not have to live in the area for a certain amount of time before you can apply for the WIC program. If you move, please bring your WIC card from your past residence with you.
If you or children in your care receive Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), you may already be income eligible for WIC. If you don’t participate in one of these programs, your income must be at or below WIC limits.
All applicants must receive a free, simple health check by WIC staff before they are enrolled. WIC professionals use this information to personalize your benefits and services.
